Wind farm construction information day

Vattenfall, the company building a major Northumbrian wind farm, is to hold an information day for local residents next week (2 Nov) following the start of major engineering work at the circa £90mn green energy project.

Local residents around the project have the chance to quiz the Ray Wind Farm team at Kirkwhelpington Memorial Hall, NE19 2RT on Monday 2nd November – 3.30pm to 7.30 pm.

This will also be the first chance the local community will get to meet with recently appointed Community Action Northumberland who will be on hand to talk about the wind farm’s £6mn community benefit fund.

This is an opportunity for the local community to discuss what kind of community benefit fund they want to see so it is important for as many local residents as possible to come along and shape the future of the fund.

Paul Nickless, Vattenfall’s Construction Manager for the 16 turbine Ray Wind Farm, said: “Vattenfall is currently preparing the ground for turbine installation next year at Ray Wind Farm. We hope that local residents and businesses in the Kirkwhelpington area come along to gain a good understanding of what we plan to do and raise any concerns they may have regarding the construction of the wind farm. We are also hoping for lots of input into the setup of the community fund.”
