Coast Explorer Environmental Programme

The Coast Explorer Environmental Programme is in its fourth year having reached over 2000 children since it began.

The programme takes place on Reculver beach in Kent from April to September where we engage with younger students through outdoor sessions. These sessions focus on marine ecology, renewable energy and climate change.

The Coast Explorer sessions highlight the importance of the marine and coastal environment as a vital resource in different ways. Using the knowledge and skills developed during the programme, the aim is to inspire participants to champion the environment and make the right choices for the future.

As part of the Coast Explorer Programme The Crown Estate have established a successful summer Internship and in 2019 they will recruit for a fourth intake. The interns will explore pathways into different careers either on the coast or connected to it, carry out meaningful research projects and experience working in different environments – inside and outside. For details of the next intake, please keep an eye on The Crown Estate’s website.
