Pen y Cymoedd Wind Energy Project was officially opened by the First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones and Vattenfall's CEO, Magnus Hall on 28th September 2017.
The project is the largest onshore wind farm in England and Wales and Vattenfall's largest onshore wind farm. The wind farm is situated on Welsh Government land, managed by Natural Resources Wales, a key partner in the delivery of the project.
Of the £400mn investment to build the Pen y Cymoedd Wind Energy Project, 52% went to businesses in Wales, securing work for more than 1,000 workers in Wales over the past three years.
Today, a 23 strong Operations and Maintenance Team is based at Hwb Pen y Cymoedd on the wind farm site.
