On Friday 8th March, the Norfolk team celebrated International Women's Day at a special Norfolk Chamber of Commerce breakfast followed by a Vattenfall-led IWD workshop with 16 female students from Lynn Grove Academy, Nicholas Hammond Academy and University Technical College Norfolk (UTCN).
Following a morning listening to female business leaders from the Norfolk region, the afternoon session focused on inspiring young women to consider the opportunities and variety of careers in STEM related industries, with specific reference to renewables and wind energy. Mini sessions within the workshop also considered development of leadership, confidence, communication and problem-solving skills. Practical sessions tested the students' teamwork skills and the day ended with discussion on inspirational women.
The students offered some great feedback:
"I felt very inspired and it was nice to hear so many success stories"
"It really inspired me to break the barrier and strive in the things I love"
"I loved meeting new people and working with them"
Many thanks to Norfolk Chamber, The Nest, The STEM Hub, Milly Chapman and all of the students for the enthusiastic participation.
