Vattenfall procures materials, goods and services from more than 30,000 different suppliers throughout our supply chain in Europe. One way we can support sustainability and responsible business is through our relationships with our suppliers.
We set and maintain high standards for our own conduct and that of our suppliers.
We strive to become a leader in developing environmentally sustainable energy production. This requires us to manage the impact, risks and opportunities that are inherent in our supply chain.
We have a Group-wide Code of Conduct for Suppliers that suppliers must agree to. The code is primarily based on UN Global Compact's ten principles regarding:
- Human Rights
The code has been included in our agreements since 2009. It specifies the minimum standards required and expected of all suppliers to Vattenfall:
- We expect our suppliers to adhere to all laws, rules and regulations in the countries where they carry out their activities.
- We expect suppliers to apply these minimum standards to their subcontractors and sub-suppliers.
- We expect our suppliers to always strive to apply both international and industry best practice.
